We have slowly started viewing our way through movies we think might be nominated for Academy Awards. Each year we watch the Academy Awards even though start at midnight here in Sweden and go on to 6am or so. It is worth it! Before we have watched the movies after the awards been handed out and this year we thought it might be fun to have seen the movies beforehand so that we know if we think they choose the right movie.Yesterday we watched The Lovely Bones and I will be mighty upset if Stanley Tucci does not get a nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role! His character sent chills down my spine when I was watching it, a kind of person you pray you will never meet. Also young Saoirse Ronan was quite amazing in her role and I think that she can become one of the biggest stars of her generation if she continues to pick her roles wisely.
Today we watched Up in the Air and I have to say, I do not like George Clooney. I am sorry but he just is not a very good actor. He is nothing special. However I do think that both Vera Farmiga and Anna Kendrick were very nice and I can see this movie getting a few nominations. I liked that it wasn't your typical Hollywood movie where you knew exactly how everything would end, and where every character feels like they been cut out of stereotype-foam.
Hm, I guess this was more of a movie blog than I thought when I started it, but don't you worry, after the Academy Awards it will calm down, so it is only another 1.5 or so months!
Suggestions for movies to watch will be appreciated!
Over and out
